Position Summary:
The Agent in Charge (AIC) plays a vital role in supporting daily dispensary operations and ensuring compliance with Illinois state regulations. This role provides hands-on leadership support across retail functions, oversees store opening and closing procedures, and fulfills the state-required on-site Agent in Charge designation during assigned shifts.
The AIC position is designed for motivated individuals with strong cannabis retail experience who are eager to develop leadership skills and grow into future leadership roles. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and customer-service focused, with a strong understanding of dispensary operations and compliance expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as designated Agent in Charge (AIC) per Illinois state cannabis regulations during assigned shifts.
- Support Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with daily retail operations.
- Oversee store opening and closing procedures, including keyholder responsibilities.
- Monitor and coach Sales Associates on service standards, sales techniques, and compliance procedures.
- Assist with inventory control, receiving deliveries, product merchandising, and Metrc tracking.
- Perform cash handling duties, including register reconciliation and safe management.
- Handle customer concerns and escalations professionally, using sound judgment.
- Support promotional activities and coupon code validation.
- Conduct routine compliance checks, bag checks, and staff checkouts as required.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies, state regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Complete assigned operational tasks and other duties as directed by store leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provides peer support and guidance to Sales Associates during shifts.
Acts as leadership support when Store Manager or ASM is not present.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of cannabis retail or related customer service experience required.
- Previous keyholder or shift lead experience strongly preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of Illinois cannabis compliance regulations preferred.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Dutchie POS or other retail management platforms.
- Cash handling experience and comfort working in fast-paced retail environments.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required Illinois cannabis certifications, Agent ID, background checks, and credentials per state law.
Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions in a retail environment.
Work Environment:
- Licensed cannabis dispensary retail setting.
- Fast-paced, customer-facing environment with compliance and security protocols.
