Junior Data Analyst


The Junior Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data to support and improve key business functions. This position works cross-functionally to deliver insights that drive strategic decisions and operational efficiencies across departments, including Purchasing, Recon, Marketing, Packaging, Intake, Transfers, and Sales. As a secondary point of contact for analytics and systems support, the Junior Data Analyst develops detailed reports, monitors key performance indicators (KPIs), and identifies opportunities for growth and optimization.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting 
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources for analysis.
  • Build dashboards and reports using data visualization tools to provide actionable insights.
  • Perform trend analysis on inventory levels, sales performance, and labor efficiency.
  • Run weekly inventory audits, analyze par levels, and support purchasing and inventory planning.
  • Monitor KPIs such as employee productivity, sales performance, and departmental efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Support the Purchasing team with scheduling and managing product deliveries.
    • Collaborate with Marketing to analyze market trends and consumer behavior.
    • Act as a secondary point of contact for system analytics and troubleshooting.
    • Provide insights for project managers and the Head Purchaser to inform strategic decisions.
  • Strategic Planning and Optimization
    • Use predictive analytics to forecast sales and labor needs.
    • Identify inefficiencies and recommend data-driven solutions to improve processes.
    • Analyze financial performance, including budgets, sales, and profitability, and suggest actionable strategies for growth.
    • Support initiatives to expand operations into new markets and optimize resource allocation.
  • Documentation and Communication
    • Document findings in detailed reports and present insights to stakeholders.
    • Create and maintain accurate documentation for systems, processes, and data sources.
    • Assist in investigating and resolving issues related to inventory, sales, and other business areas.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Proficient in data analytics tools such as Excel (advanced functions), SQL, and Google Sheets.
    • Experience with business intelligence (BI) platforms like Tableau, Power BI, or Google Data Studio.
    • Familiarity with cannabis-specific POS systems like Dutchie, Treez, or BioTrack.
    • Skilled in ETL processes, data cleaning, and data transformation.
    • Basic knowledge of Python or R for data analysis (preferred but not required).
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Strong ability to perform data mining and statistical analysis.
    • Expertise in tracking and evaluating KPIs to measure business performance.
    • Experience in market research and competitive analysis.
    • Ability to use trend analysis and predictive modeling for forecasting.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on translating technical insights into clear business recommendations.
    • Exceptional time management and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
    • A positive attitude and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
