HVAC Maintenance Technician
Location: Mesa, Arizona
Pay Range: $22.00 - $25.00
Position Summary:
A refrigeration technician installs, maintains, and repairs commercial and industrial cooling systems, such as freezers, coolers, and air conditioning units. They diagnose malfunctions, replace faulty components, and ensure systems comply with safety and efficiency standards. This role requires technical knowledge of HVAC systems, troubleshooting skills, and EPA certification for handling refrigerants.
Responsibilities:
- Installing, testing, and commissioning new refrigeration units, including connecting pipes, circuits, and electrical components.
- Performing regular, preventative maintenance on equipment to prevent breakdowns, such as cleaning coils and checking refrigerant levels.
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical failures and repairing/replacing components like compressors, condensers, and fans.
- Adhering to environmental regulations for the recovery, recycling, and disposal of refrigerants.
- Consulting with clients regarding system performance, repairs, and recommending energy-efficient upgrades.
- Keeping accurate records of work orders, maintenance logs, and parts usage.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Qualifications:
- Must have deep understanding of thermodynamics, refrigeration cycles, and electrical wiring.
- Must have proficiency with tools for repairing, testing, and installing machinery.
- Ability to explain technical issues to customers
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Facility Agent Card (or equivalent license) if required by state regulations.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience
Education and Certifications:
- EPA Section 608 Certification required
Physical Requirements:
- Standing, sitting, walking.
- Lifting requirements (e.g., must be able to lift to 50 pounds).
- Manual dexterity, repetitive motion, etc.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel from location to location.
